I am a 72-year-old (age in 2024) University Professor expert in a rare disease called systemic amyloidosis, and I have had ALS since 2017. Systemic amyloidosis and ALS share molecular mechanisms related to malfolded proteins. My dream is that ALS will follow the same path of systemic amyloidosis, from neglected and untreatable to well-recognized and potentially curable conditions.
